Engagement & Couple
sessions GUIDE

Hi, I am KATE

Whether you’re newly engaged, celebrating an anniversary, or just want beautiful photos together “just because” — this session is all about you. The real, fun, connected version of you.
We’ll keep things easy. I’ll guide you through the whole session, so you never have to worry about what to do with your hands. You just show up, be yourselves, and I’ll take care of the rest. We’ll laugh, move, and maybe even get a little silly — because that’s when the real magic happens.
Let’s turn this season of your life into something you can hold onto forever.

How to Prepare
A little preparation goes a long way in making you feel confident and camera-ready! These simple steps will help ensure your session is relaxed, fun, and results in photos you'll absolutely love.
Step 1
Create Your Vision

Browse Pinterest and Instagram to gather inspiration that speaks to you as a couple. While I'll stay true to my signature style, your vision absolutely matters. Create a mood board that captures the feeling you want - whether that's romantic and dreamy, fun and playful, or elegant and timeless. Share this with me so we can make sure we're perfectly aligned on your dream session.

Step 2
Choose the Perfect Location

The key is finding locations that feel meaningful to you while providing beautiful backdrops. Consider places where you love spending time together - a favorite park, the spot where you had your first date, or simply a gorgeous natural setting that speaks to your hearts. I'm always happy to suggest locations that match your vision!

Step 3
Plan Your Outfits

Choose outfits that make you both feel confident and authentically yourselves. The key is coordination without being too matchy, focusing on colors and styles that complement each other while letting your individual personalities shine through.

What to Wear
Coordinate colors without being too matchy
Neutral and earthy tones (creams, soft blues, warm browns, muted pinks)
Two outfits: one slightly dressier, one more casual
Flowy dresses, cozy sweaters, well-fitted pants, nice button-downs
Comfortable clothes that make you feel confident
What to Avoid
Busy patterns or bright neon colors
Logos or graphics
Uncomfortable shoes
STEP 4
Personal Prep

Schedule beauty treatments a week before, keep nails fresh for those hand-holding moments, and do makeup that makes you feel most beautiful - natural enhancement always photographs wonderfully. Most importantly, get excited about this experience! Think of it as a special date that happens to be documented. Trust the process, be yourselves, and remember that the most beautiful photos happen when you're authentically you.

Step 5
Day of Session

Bring both outfits, any meaningful props that tell your story, water and touch-up makeup for the longer session, and comfortable walking shoes for moving between locations. Most importantly, remember this should be fun! Think of it as a special date that happens to be documented - I'll guide you through everything, so just relax and be yourselves.

Let's document your story

I believe the best photos come when we slow down and really feel the moment.
Tell me your story, what matters most, and let’s create something that feels true to you — whether it’s a wedding, new chapter of your growing family, or just everyday love with the people you care about.
FAQ

Do you travel for destination weddings?
Absolutely yes—and I’ll be thrilled to do that! Whether it’s a mountaintop ceremony, a beach elopement, or a hidden gem somewhere far away, I’m always up for the adventure. Just reach out, and we’ll discuss all the details to make it happen.
Do you help with planning the session?
Of course! I love being part of the planning process. I always recommend booking a quick phone call so we can talk through your vision, ideas, and preferences. After we schedule your session, you’ll also receive a simple online guide I created—with tips and advice based on my experience—to help you feel fully prepared. The whole goal is to make the process smooth and the experience truly unforgettable.
What is your cancellation policy?
I deeply respect my clients’ time and plans—and I believe respect should go both ways :) Life happens, I totally get that. If something comes up, I just ask for at least 3 days' notice so I can move your deposit to a new date. If the cancellation happens on the same day, I won’t be able to refund or transfer the deposit. Thank you for understanding and valuing each other’s time!
What if it rains?
Honestly—I don’t mind at all (and I hope you won’t either)! If you’ve ever watched The Notebook, you’ll know that some of the most magical, emotional photos can happen in the rain. But of course, if we didn’t plan for a rainy session and it’s not your vibe, we can always reschedule. Just let’s stay flexible and choose what feels right for you.
How soon will we get the photos?
My average turnaround time is about 4–5 weeks for family and engagement sessions, and 2–3 months for weddings. I take time with each gallery to make sure it feels just right—like a visual story made just for you. And I promise: the wait will be 10000% worth it. Honestly, it’s even more exciting to go through your images when the memories already feel a little dreamy and distant. That’s when the real magic happens.
Do you offer videos too?
Oh yes! Every session I do includes a complimentary short video. It’s a little gift from me to you—something extra to remember your time not just in still images, but in motion. You can check out my Instagram Reels to get a general idea of the video style I create. It’s emotional, honest, and full of life—just like your story.
Will you direct and pose us during the session?
Haha! This is probably the most common question I get—and the answer is yes and no :)
I’m not into stiff posing, but I also won’t leave you standing awkwardly wondering what to do with your hands. The truth is, the most beautiful and real photos I’ve taken happened when my clients were relaxed and just being themselves—but getting to that place usually takes a little gentle guidance.
So yes, I’ll direct you in a way that feels natural and easy, and then we’ll just let the magic unfold from there.
What should we wear?
I truly believe that simplicity is the key to a beautiful photoshoot. Think soft cotton, flowy silk, earthy tones, and natural textures. Avoid logos, busy prints, or anything that might take attention away from you.
What you wear will say a lot about who you are—so choose pieces that feel like you. And please don’t stress or rush to the mall to buy something new. You probably already have the perfect outfit in your closet.
My advice? Check Pinterest for inspiration, think about your favorite go-to looks, and if you ever feel unsure—just message me. I’m always happy to help you style your session!
Will you help us find the perfect location?
Absolutely! Once I receive your inquiry, we’ll chat and figure out the perfect spot together. I know quite a few beautiful (and actually secluded!) locations that are ideal for creating relaxed, meaningful images.
I truly believe that the most special moments happen in quiet, private settings—so while popular spots can be gorgeous, they’re not always the best if we want intimacy and calm.
If you don’t already have a specific location in mind, don’t worry—I’ll definitely help you find one that fits your vision perfectly.
